Make this classic Southern appetizer using only three simple ingredients: Bisquick mix, ground sausage, and cheddar cheese. These cheesy sausage bites are perfect for parties, game day, or a quick make-ahead breakfast.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound ground pork sausage (mild or spicy)
  • 2 cups sharp cheddar cheese, shredded
  • 1 1/2 cups Bisquick Original Pancake & Baking Mix

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350 degrees F. Lightly grease a baking sheet or line it with parchment paper.
  2. In a large bowl, combine the ground sausage, shredded cheddar cheese, and Bisquick mix.
  3. Use your hands to mix the ingredients thoroughly until they are fully combined. Do not overmix.
  4. Roll the mixture into small, uniform balls, about 1 inch in diameter. Place them on the prepared baking sheet, leaving about 1 inch of space between each ball.
  5. Bake for 15 to 20 minutes, or until the sausage balls are golden brown and cooked through.
  6. Remove from the oven and let them cool slightly on the baking sheet before serving.

Notes

  • For extra moist sausage balls, add 4 ounces of softened cream cheese to the mixture.
  • If you use spicy sausage, you may want to use mild cheddar cheese to balance the heat.
  • These freezer friendly sausage snacks bake well directly from frozen; add 5 to 10 minutes to the baking time.
  • Serve these party food ideas warm with your favorite dipping sauces, such as honey mustard or ranch dressing.
