A quick and flavorful Cajun-spiced tuna steak with a restaurant-style crust, perfect for a healthy weeknight meal.

Ingredients

  • 2 tuna steaks (6 oz each)
  • 1 tablespoon blackened seasoning
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • Optional: Avocado-mango salsa for serving

Instructions

  1. Pat the tuna steaks dry with paper towels.
  2. Generously season both sides of the tuna steaks with blackened seasoning.
  3. Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium-high heat until shimmering.
  4. Sear the tuna steaks for 2-3 minutes per side for medium-rare, or longer for your desired doneness. Use a meat thermometer for accuracy: 115°F for rare, 120°F for medium-rare, 130°F for medium.
  5. Remove from skillet and let rest for a few minutes before serving.
  6. Serve with avocado-mango salsa if desired.

Notes

  • For grilling: Preheat grill to medium-high heat. Grill tuna steaks for 2-3 minutes per side.
  • For air fryer: Preheat air fryer to 400°F (200°C). Air fry tuna steaks for 4-6 minutes, flipping halfway through.
  • Marinade option: Marinate tuna in a mixture of olive oil, lemon juice, garlic, and Cajun spices for 30 minutes before seasoning and cooking.
