Ingredients
Scale
1 large ball fresh mozzarella
1 pint cherry tomatoes
1 bunch fresh basil leaves
2 tablespoons olive oil
2 tablespoons balsamic glaze
Salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste
Instructions
To mold the mozzarella skulls, you can use small skull-shaped silicone molds. Press small pieces of fresh mozzarella into the molds and freeze until firm, about 1-2 hours. Alternatively, you can carefully carve small mozzarella balls into skull shapes using a paring knife.
Wash and halve the cherry tomatoes.
Wash and dry the basil leaves.
Arrange the mozzarella skulls, cherry tomato halves, and basil leaves on a serving platter or board to create a spooky design.
Drizzle the entire arrangement with olive oil and balsamic glaze.
Season with salt and freshly ground black pepper just before serving.
Notes
For extra spooky detail, you can use black olives to create eyes and a nose on the mozzarella skulls before molding or carving.
If you don’t have skull molds, you can also use small round cutters to create different shapes.
Ensure your mozzarella is well-chilled before attempting to carve it for easier handling.
The balsamic glaze adds a sweet and tangy finish that complements the fresh ingredients.
