Ingredients
Scale
2 ripe Hass avocados
1/2 cup fresh cilantro leaves
1/4 cup fresh lime juice (about 2 limes)
1/4 cup water (or more, for desired consistency)
2 cloves garlic
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon black pepper
1 tablespoon olive oil
Instructions
Cut the avocados in half, remove the pits, and scoop the flesh into a food processor or high-speed blender.
Add the cilantro, lime juice, garlic, salt, pepper, and olive oil to the food processor.
Begin blending. Slowly stream in the water while the machine is running until the sauce reaches a smooth, creamy consistency. Stop and scrape down the sides as needed.
Taste the sauce and adjust salt or lime juice if necessary. If the sauce is too thick for drizzling, add a tablespoon more water until you reach your preferred texture.
Use immediately as an avocado topping for tacos or serve as a quick avocado dip.
Notes
For a richer, tangier avocado crema recipe, substitute 1/4 cup of the water with plain Greek yogurt or dairy-free yogurt.
If you prefer a spicy avocado sauce for tacos, add one seeded jalapeño to the blender with the other ingredients.
To keep this sauce fresh and green longer, press plastic wrap directly onto the surface of the sauce before refrigerating.
