Make incredibly juicy, tender chicken thighs with perfectly crisp skin using this simple baked recipe. The sweet and savory honey garlic glaze caramelizes beautifully, making this an easy weeknight dinner favorite.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 6 bone-in, skin-on chicken thighs
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 3 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons apple cider vinegar
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with foil for easy cleanup, and place a wire rack on top of the foil. This rack is key for crispy skin.
  2. Pat the chicken thighs completely dry using paper towels. This step is essential for achieving crispy skin.
  3. In a small bowl, mix the salt, pepper, paprika, and garlic powder. Rub the chicken thighs all over with olive oil, then sprinkle the seasoning mix evenly over the chicken, making sure to coat the skin well.
  4. Place the seasoned chicken thighs skin-side up on the wire rack.
  5. Bake for 25 minutes at 400°F.
  6. While the chicken bakes, prepare the glaze. In a small saucepan, combine the honey, soy sauce, apple cider vinegar, and minced garlic. Bring the mixture to a simmer over medium heat, stirring until slightly thickened, about 3 minutes. Remove from heat.
  7. After the initial 25 minutes of baking, brush half of the honey garlic glaze over the tops of the chicken thighs.
  8. Return the chicken to the oven and bake for another 10 to 15 minutes, or until the internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C) and the skin is golden brown and crisp.
  9. Remove the chicken from the oven. Brush with the remaining glaze. Let the chicken rest on the rack for 5 minutes before serving.

Notes

  • For the juiciest results, use bone-in, skin-on thighs. If you use boneless, skinless thighs, reduce the cooking time by about 8-10 minutes.
  • If you want a thicker glaze, let the sauce simmer for an extra minute or two until it coats the back of a spoon.
  • Serve these flavorful chicken thighs over steamed rice or with a side of roasted broccoli for a complete meal.
