Combine taco night and pizza night into one simple, crowd-approved meal using flaky crescent roll dough as the base. This recipe is fast, flavorful, and perfect for busy weeknights.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 can (8 ounces) refrigerated crescent roll dough
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 packet (1 ounce) taco seasoning mix
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1 cup refried beans, warmed
  • 2 cups shredded Mexican cheese blend
  • 1 cup shredded lettuce
  • 1 medium tomato, diced
  • 1/2 cup salsa
  • 1/2 cup sour cream or plain Greek yogurt
  • Optional: Sliced black olives, sliced jalapeños

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit. Lightly grease a 12-inch pizza pan or line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Unroll the crescent roll dough and press it onto the prepared pan, sealing any seams to form one large crust. Bake the crust for 8 to 10 minutes until lightly golden. Remove from the oven.
  3. While the crust bakes, cook the ground beef in a skillet over medium heat until fully browned. Drain off any excess grease.
  4. Stir the taco seasoning mix and water into the cooked ground beef. Bring to a simmer and cook for 2 to 3 minutes, until the sauce thickens slightly.
  5. Spread the warmed refried beans evenly over the partially baked crescent roll crust.
  6. Spoon the seasoned taco meat over the layer of refried beans.
  7. Sprinkle the entire surface evenly with the shredded cheese blend.
  8. Return the pizza to the oven and bake for another 8 to 10 minutes, or until the cheese is fully melted and bubbly and the crust edges are golden brown.
  9. Remove the taco pizza from the oven. Let it cool for 5 minutes before adding the fresh toppings.
  10. Top the hot pizza with shredded lettuce, diced tomatoes, salsa, and dollops of sour cream. Add any optional toppings now.
  11. Slice and serve this flavorful Tex Mex pizza immediately.

Notes

  • For a crispier base, you can use two cans of crescent roll dough, overlapping them slightly.
  • If you prefer a crunchier texture, use two thin, pre-baked flour tortillas instead of the crescent roll dough for a Homemade Mexican Pizza style base.
  • You can prepare the taco meat ahead of time to make this an even faster weeknight fusion dinner.
  • For a low-fat option, use lean ground turkey instead of ground beef and substitute plain Greek yogurt for sour cream.
