Make your pizza night better with this simple, no-cook pizza sauce. You get rich, thick flavor using pantry staples in under five minutes. This recipe proves you do not need to simmer all day for restaurant quality pizza sauce.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 28 oz can crushed tomatoes (San Marzano style recommended)
  • 6 oz can tomato paste
  • 2 cloves fresh garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1 teaspoon dried basil
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon granulated sugar (optional, for balance)

Instructions

  1. Gather all your ingredients. You will need a medium bowl and a whisk or spoon.
  2. Pour the entire 28 oz can of crushed tomatoes into the bowl. Do not drain the liquid.
  3. Add the 6 oz can of tomato paste to the bowl.
  4. Add the minced fresh garlic, dried oregano, dried basil, salt, and pepper. If you prefer a slightly sweeter sauce, add the optional sugar now.
  5. Use a whisk or spoon to mix all the ingredients together thoroughly until the paste is fully incorporated and the mixture is uniform. This mixing step is key for a thick pizza sauce.
  6. Taste the sauce. Adjust salt or pepper as needed. You now have your easy pizza sauce ready for your crust.
  7. Use immediately on your pizza dough. This no cook pizza sauce is best when applied directly to the pizza base.

Notes

  • For an even thicker pizza sauce, you can press the sauce through a fine-mesh sieve to remove excess water before mixing, or simply use less of the liquid from the crushed tomatoes.
  • If you do not have fresh garlic, substitute with 1/2 teaspoon of garlic powder.
  • This recipe makes a fantastic base for your homemade tomato base and is perfect for a quick dinner.
