Ingredients
Scale
1 (16.3 ounce) can refrigerated biscuit dough, cut into quarters
1 pound ground Italian sausage or ground beef
1 cup chopped onion
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1 teaspoon dried oregano
1/2 teaspoon dried basil
1 (24 ounce) jar pizza sauce
1 1/2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese, divided
1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
1/2 cup sliced pepperoni or other desired pizza toppings
Instructions
Preheat your oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit. Lightly grease a 9×13 inch baking dish.
In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the ground meat and onion until the meat is browned and the onion is soft. Drain off any excess grease.
Stir in the garlic powder, oregano, and basil into the meat mixture. Cook for one minute until fragrant.
Place the quartered biscuit pieces evenly in the bottom of the prepared baking dish.
Pour the pizza sauce over the biscuit pieces.
Spread the cooked meat mixture over the sauce layer.
Sprinkle 1 cup of the mozzarella cheese and all of the Parmesan cheese over the meat.
Top with pepperoni and any other desired toppings.
Bake for 20 to 25 minutes, or until the biscuits are cooked through and the cheese is melted and bubbly.
Sprinkle the remaining 1/2 cup of mozzarella cheese on top during the last 5 minutes of baking.
Let the casserole rest for 5 minutes before cutting and serving.
Notes
For a Meat Lover’s Casserole, add cooked crumbled bacon or diced ham along with the pepperoni.
You can prepare this dish ahead of time; cover and refrigerate for up to 24 hours before baking. Add 5 to 10 minutes to the bake time if cooking from cold.
Use your favorite pizza toppings, such as mushrooms, green peppers, or black olives, to customize this dish.
