Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 bottle (750ml) dry red wine (like Merlot or Cabernet Sauvignon)
  • 1 cup apple cider
  • 1/4 cup brandy or triple sec
  • 1/4 cup orange juice
  • 1 orange, thinly sliced
  • 1 apple, cored and thinly sliced
  • 1 pear, cored and thinly sliced
  • 2 cinnamon sticks
  • 1/4 cup fresh cranberries (optional)
  • Ice cubes

Instructions

  1. In a large pitcher, combine the red wine, apple cider, brandy, and orange juice.
  2. Add the sliced orange, apple, pear, and cinnamon sticks to the pitcher.
  3. If using, add the fresh cranberries.
  4. Stir gently to combine.
  5. Refrigerate for at least 2 hours, or preferably overnight, to allow the flavors to meld.
  6. Before serving, fill glasses with ice cubes.
  7. Pour the sangria over the ice, ensuring each glass gets some fruit and cinnamon stick.
  8. Serve immediately.

Notes

  • For a white wine version, use a crisp white wine like Pinot Grigio or Sauvignon Blanc.
  • To make a nonalcoholic version, substitute the wine with more apple cider or sparkling apple juice and omit the brandy.
  • This sangria can be made up to 2 days in advance.
  • Garnish with extra orange slices or a cinnamon stick.
