Ingredients
Scale
8 ounces soft goat cheese (chèvre), room temperature
1/4 cup all-purpose flour
1 large egg, beaten
1/2 cup panko breadcrumbs
1 tablespoon dried parsley
1 teaspoon dried oregano
1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
Pinch of salt and black pepper
Cooking spray or 1 tablespoon olive oil (for baking)
2 tablespoons honey, for drizzling
Instructions
Combine the flour, salt, and pepper on one shallow plate.
Whisk the egg in a second shallow bowl.
On a third plate, mix the panko breadcrumbs, dried parsley, oregano, and garlic powder together.
Scoop the room-temperature goat cheese and roll it into small balls, about 1 inch in diameter. You should get about 12 to 15 balls.
Dredge each cheese ball first in the flour mixture, shaking off any excess.
Dip the floured ball into the beaten egg, letting excess drip off.
Roll the ball thoroughly in the seasoned breadcrumb mixture until fully coated. Place the coated balls on a plate lined with parchment paper.
To bake: Preheat your oven to 400 degrees F (200 degrees C). Lightly spray the cheese balls with cooking spray or brush with olive oil. Arrange them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Bake for 10 to 12 minutes, or until golden brown and heated through.
To air fry: Place the coated cheese balls in a single layer in your air fryer basket, working in batches if needed. Spray lightly with cooking spray. Air fry at 375 degrees F (190 degrees C) for 6 to 8 minutes, flipping halfway, until crispy.
Remove the goat cheese balls from the oven or air fryer. Let them cool for just a minute or two so they set slightly.
Arrange the warm cheese balls on a serving platter. Drizzle generously with honey before serving. These are best served warm as a party snack idea.
Notes
For a festive touch, mix 1/4 cup finely chopped toasted pecans and 2 tablespoons dried cranberries into the breadcrumb coating.
If you prefer a spicy kick, mix 1 teaspoon of red pepper flakes into the honey before drizzling. This creates a spicy honey drizzle that pairs well with the creamy cheese bites.
If the goat cheese is too soft to roll, chill the formed balls in the refrigerator for 15 minutes before coating.
