Make this classic, creamy ham salad in minutes using leftover ham. It is a simple, tangy sandwich filling perfect for quick lunches or serving with crackers.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups cooked ham, finely chopped or ground
  • 1/2 cup mayonnaise
  • 1/4 cup finely chopped celery
  • 2 tablespoons sweet pickle relish
  • 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • Pinch of salt (optional)

Instructions

  1. Place the finely chopped or ground ham in a medium mixing bowl.
  2. Add the mayonnaise, chopped celery, sweet pickle relish, Dijon mustard, onion powder, and black pepper to the bowl.
  3. Mix all ingredients together thoroughly until the ham salad is evenly combined and creamy.
  4. Taste the mixture and add a pinch of salt if your ham is not salty enough.
  5. Cover the bowl and chill the ham salad in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes before serving. This allows the flavors to blend.
  6. Serve your ham salad as a sandwich filling, on crackers, or in lettuce wraps.

Notes

  • For a smoother, deli-style ham salad, pulse the ham in a food processor until finely ground before mixing. Do not over-process into a paste.
  • If you prefer a tangier flavor, increase the Dijon mustard to 1 1/2 tablespoons.
  • This recipe is excellent for using up leftover holiday ham.
  • You can prepare this ham salad up to two days ahead of time.
