Make this easy, cheesy lasagna casserole using frozen cheese ravioli for a quick weeknight dinner. This recipe requires minimal prep and delivers classic comfort food flavor.

  • 1 (24 ounce) package frozen cheese ravioli
  • 1 (24 ounce) jar marinara sauce
  • 1 pound ground beef or Italian sausage (optional)
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • 1 cup water or broth
  • 1 (15 ounce) container ricotta cheese
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375 degrees F. Lightly grease a 9×13 inch baking dish.
  2. If using meat, brown the ground beef or sausage in a skillet over medium heat. Drain off any excess fat.
  3. In a large bowl, combine the marinara sauce, Italian seasoning, and water or broth. If you browned meat, stir it into the sauce mixture now.
  4. Spread about one cup of the sauce mixture evenly over the bottom of the prepared baking dish.
  5. Arrange half of the frozen ravioli in a single layer over the sauce.
  6. Spread half of the ricotta cheese evenly over the ravioli layer.
  7. Spoon half of the remaining sauce mixture over the ricotta.
  8. Sprinkle half of the mozzarella cheese over the sauce.
  9. Repeat the layers: remaining ravioli, remaining ricotta, remaining sauce, and remaining mozzarella cheese.
  10. Sprinkle the Parmesan cheese evenly over the top layer.
  11. Cover the baking dish tightly with aluminum foil.
  12. Bake for 30 minutes.
  13. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 10 to 15 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
  14. Let the casserole rest for 5 minutes before slicing and serving.

Notes

  • For a three-ingredient version, skip the meat, Italian seasoning, and water, and simply layer the frozen ravioli, sauce, and mozzarella cheese.
  • You can substitute ground turkey or ground chicken for the beef for a lighter option.
  • To make this a skillet lasagna, brown the meat, add the sauce and water, bring to a simmer, then nestle the frozen ravioli into the sauce and top with cheese. Cover and cook until ravioli is done, then uncover and bake briefly if desired.
