Create a delicious, sweet, and savory chicken dinner using simple ingredients. This baked chicken breast recipe features a tangy maple mustard glaze perfect for a quick weeknight meal.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
  • 1/4 cup pure maple syrup
  • 3 tablespoons Dijon mustard
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried thyme
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/8 teaspoon black pepper

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400 degrees Fahrenheit. Lightly grease a baking dish or line it with parchment paper.
  2. In a small bowl, whisk together the maple syrup, Dijon mustard, olive oil, garlic powder, thyme, salt, and pepper to make the sweet and savory chicken glaze.
  3. Place the chicken breasts in the prepared baking dish.
  4. Spoon or brush about half of the maple dijon sauce evenly over the tops of the chicken breasts. Reserve the remaining sauce for later.
  5. Bake for 18 to 22 minutes, or until the internal temperature of the chicken reaches 165 degrees Fahrenheit. Cooking time depends on the thickness of your chicken.
  6. Remove the dish from the oven. Brush the remaining sauce over the chicken. Let the chicken rest in the dish for 5 minutes before serving.

Notes

  • For thicker chicken breasts, pound them to an even thickness before cooking so they cook uniformly.
  • If you prefer pan seared maple dijon chicken thighs, sear them in a skillet over medium-high heat for 5-7 minutes per side, then reduce heat, brush with sauce, cover, and simmer until done.
  • Serve this simple chicken breast recipe alongside roasted potatoes or steamed green beans for a complete family friendly easy chicken meal.
