Make this rich, gooey chocolate fudge pie using simple ingredients. It has a crackly top and a melt-in-your-mouth center, similar to a brownie in a pie crust. This recipe is perfect for holidays or when you need a simple, comforting dessert.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 (9 inch) unbaked pie crust (store-bought or homemade)
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter, melted
  • 2 large eggs, lightly beaten
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup milk

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350 degrees F. Place the unbaked pie crust on a baking sheet.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together the sugar, flour, cocoa powder, and salt.
  3. Add the melted butter, eggs, vanilla extract, and milk to the dry ingredients. Mix until just combined. Do not overmix.
  4. Pour the chocolate filling into the unbaked pie crust.
  5. Bake for 35 to 40 minutes. The edges should look set, and the center should still be slightly soft and fudgy.
  6. Let the pie cool completely on a wire rack before slicing. Cooling allows the fudge center to set properly.
  7. Serve at room temperature or slightly warm with whipped cream or vanilla ice cream.

Notes

  • For a hot fudge pie experience, warm individual slices slightly before serving.
  • If you prefer a brownie pie texture, bake for 5 minutes longer until the center is mostly set.
  • Use a high-quality cocoa powder for the best chocolate flavor.
