Make this creamy and savory smoked salmon bagel dip. It uses smoked salmon, cream cheese, capers, and fresh herbs for a dip that tastes just like a classic bagel topping. It is simple to prepare and perfect for parties or brunch.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 8 ounces cream cheese, softened
  • 4 ounces cold smoked salmon, finely chopped
  • 2 tablespoons red onion, finely minced
  • 1 tablespoon capers, drained and chopped
  • 1 teaspoon lemon zest
  • 1 tablespoon fresh dill, chopped
  • 1 tablespoon fresh chives, chopped
  • 1 teaspoon everything bagel seasoning, plus more for topping
  • Freshly ground black pepper to taste
  • Bagel chips or crackers, for serving

Instructions

  1. Place the softened cream cheese in a medium bowl. Use a hand mixer or a sturdy spoon to beat the cream cheese until it is smooth and fluffy.
  2. Add the finely chopped smoked salmon, minced red onion, chopped capers, lemon zest, dill, and chives to the bowl.
  3. Mix all ingredients together until they are just combined. Avoid overmixing, as you want some texture from the salmon pieces.
  4. Stir in the everything bagel seasoning and a few grinds of black pepper. Taste the dip and add more seasoning if needed.
  5. Cover the bowl and chill the dip in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes. Chilling allows the flavors to blend.
  6. Before serving, transfer the smoked salmon dip to a serving dish. Sprinkle the top with extra everything bagel seasoning.
  7. Serve your dip cold with bagel chips, toasted baguette slices, or your favorite crackers.

Notes

  • If you are using store-bought cold smoked salmon, you do not need to cook it. This recipe relies on the ready-to-eat quality of the smoked fish.
  • For a tangier flavor, substitute half of the cream cheese with plain Greek yogurt or sour cream.
  • You can make this dip up to 24 hours ahead of time. Store it covered in the refrigerator.
