A quick and easy no-bake fall dessert bark featuring layers of chocolate, caramel, apple, and pretzels. It’s a perfect party treat or edible gift.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 12 oz good quality melting chocolate wafers (milk or dark chocolate)
  • 1 tablespoon coconut oil (optional, for smoother melting)
  • 1 cup chopped crisp apples (like Honeycrisp or Fuji)
  • 1/2 cup caramel sauce (store-bought or homemade)
  • 1 cup crushed pretzels
  • 1/4 cup chopped nuts (optional, like pecans or walnuts)

Instructions

  1. Prepare your apples: Core and finely dice the apples. Toss them with 1 tablespoon of caramel sauce to coat. This helps prevent them from weeping and adds flavor.
  2. Melt the chocolate: Place the melting chocolate wafers in a microwave-safe bowl. Add the coconut oil if using. Microwave in 30-second intervals, stirring between each, until smooth and fully melted.
  3. Assemble the bark: Line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Spread the melted chocolate evenly onto the parchment paper, about 1/4 inch thick.
  4. Add toppings: Drizzle the remaining caramel sauce over the chocolate. Sprinkle the coated diced apples evenly over the caramel. Scatter the crushed pretzels and optional nuts on top.
  5. Chill: Place the baking sheet in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes, or until the chocolate is completely firm.
  6. Break and store: Once firm, break the bark into pieces. Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days for best crispness.

Notes

  • For best results, use crisp apples that hold their shape.
  • Ensure your caramel sauce is thick enough not to run excessively.
  • If you don’t have melting wafers, you can use regular chocolate chips, but you may need to add more coconut oil for a smoother consistency.
