Ingredients
Scale
1 pound ground beef
1 medium onion, chopped
1 can (10.5 ounces) condensed cream of mushroom soup
1 can (10.5 ounces) condensed cream of chicken soup
1/2 cup milk
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon black pepper
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
1 cup frozen mixed vegetables (peas and carrots)
1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
1 (32 ounce) bag frozen tater tots
Instructions
Preheat your oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit. Lightly grease a 9×13 inch baking dish.
Cook the ground beef and onion in a large skillet over medium heat until the beef is browned and the onion is soft. Drain off any excess grease.
Stir the cream of mushroom soup, cream of chicken soup, milk, salt, pepper, and garlic powder into the skillet with the beef mixture. Mix well.
Fold in the frozen mixed vegetables and half of the shredded cheddar cheese. Spread this mixture evenly into the prepared baking dish.
Arrange the frozen tater tots in a single layer over the beef mixture.
Bake for 25 minutes.
Remove the casserole from the oven and sprinkle the remaining 1/2 cup of cheddar cheese over the tater tots.
Return the dish to the oven and bake for another 5 to 10 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly and the tater tots are golden brown and crispy.
Let the casserole rest for 5 minutes before serving.
Notes
For a richer flavor, substitute one can of condensed soup with condensed cheddar cheese soup.
If you prefer a tangier flavor, add 1/2 cup of sour cream to the soup mixture.
To make this a Tater Tot Hotdish, use only cream of mushroom soup and add 1/4 cup of beef broth to the base.
