Create a festive and crowd-pleasing Thanksgiving punch using seasonal flavors like cranberry, orange, and apple cider. This recipe offers simple steps for a beautiful holiday beverage that works as both a cocktail and a mocktail.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 6 cups apple cider
  • 3 cups cranberry juice cocktail
  • 1 cup fresh orange juice
  • 1 cup ginger ale or club soda (chilled)
  • 1/2 cup whiskey or prosecco (optional for alcoholic version)
  • 1 orange, thinly sliced
  • 1 cup fresh or frozen cranberries
  • 1 cinnamon stick
  • Ice ring or cubes for serving

Instructions

  1. Combine the apple cider, cranberry juice, and orange juice in a large punch bowl or beverage dispenser.
  2. If making the alcoholic version, stir in the whiskey or prosecco now.
  3. Chill the mixture for at least 2 hours, or make this step ahead of time.
  4. Just before serving, gently stir in the chilled ginger ale or club soda for fizz. Do not stir too vigorously, or you will lose the bubbles.
  5. Add the orange slices, fresh/frozen cranberries, and the cinnamon stick to the punch bowl for garnish and flavor infusion.
  6. Place a large ice ring or fill the bowl with ice to keep the punch cold while serving.
  7. Serve immediately in glasses, making sure each serving gets some of the fruit garnish.

Notes

  • To make this a non-alcoholic Thanksgiving drink, simply omit the whiskey or prosecco.
  • For a spiced fall punch flavor, gently simmer the apple cider with the cinnamon stick for 10 minutes before chilling. Remove the stick before mixing the final punch.
  • Prepare the base mixture (cider, cranberry, orange juice) up to 24 hours in advance. Keep it refrigerated and add the fizzy element (ginger ale/soda) right before guests arrive.
  • If you want a stronger alcoholic punch, consider adding 1/2 cup of brandy along with the whiskey or prosecco.
